Bloody hell, someone just made a €1,024 donation to Small Technology Foundation.
Umm, thank you, whomever you are, we really appreciate it :)
(And thank you to everyone who supports us with a monthly patronage and with one-off donations. It may not pay the rent but it does help us to keep existing and continue working on realising the Small Web with Kitten¹ and Domain².)
Congratulations to Stockfish for reporting their 14th victory at Chessdom's TCEC after a close battle against Leela Chess Zero! Both the engines, like #lichess, are run by a community of #freesoftware enthusiasts: yet another victory for #libre software in the chess world!
I'm pondering setting up community-run instances of Karrot (https://karrot.world) to support Aotearoa political activism and political parties & local gov't campaigns, and a CoinDrop (https://coindrop.to/ - not to be confused with the NZ-based but not-#FOSShttps://coindrop.co.nz) instance to allow people (e.g. buskers) to accept donations easily in the post-coins-in-pockets era... good ideas?
IIRC, @rachel_norfolk asked that question (or at least raised the issue) in their tracker discussing the application, but it was never answered....
I helped write the DPG Standard. It was designed to designate important FOSS projects specifically designed to help achieve the UN Sustsinable Development Goals.
We already have a way to designate FOSS projects and that's an OSI/FSF approved license.
