People on ActivityPub-powered platforms like Mastodon, and Bluesky, which uses the AT Protocol, can now follow each other, see posts, like, reply, and repost them, thanks to the work of @snarfed.org@snarfed.org, creator of Bridgy Fed. @Sarahp interviewed him for Tech Crunch about the future of bridging networks, how to bridge your account from the fediverse to Bluesky, and what to expect when you do.

När man läser ett Bluesky-inlägg som bryggats till Mastodon med #bridgyfed och vill läsa originalet så är det bara att öppna användarens profilsida och klicka på länken till Bluesky.
Men när det gäller Mastodon-inlägg som bryggats till Bluesky så finns det ingen länk från Bluesky-profilen till Mastodon.
I detta betastadium så har bryggan sina begränsningar som gör att det är värt att gå till originalinlägget. Bluesky klipper av Mastodoninlägg medan Mastodon inte hanterar Blueskys bilder. Och bryggan klarar inte trådar, dvs. flera inlägg i följd, utan bryggar bara det första inlägget.
Obs! Detta är inte kritik, bara nyfikna observationer. Jag tycker att interoperabilitet är ballt.

#bridgyfed vidarebefordrade precis ett gillande från andra sidan. Det tog drygt två dygn. Jag antar att det är så här de som sköter Voyager-sonderna har det på jobbet.😁
But if #BridgyFed becomes more user-friendly, that will be a big step towards interoperability. And we can finally put this silly competition between #ActivityPub and #ATProtocol to rest.
I found it confusing. For one thing, it asks me for my Mastodon account. Though Akkoma uses Mastodon’s API, not all sites recognize this nor support it—I don’t know if BridgyFed would reject.
Secondly, it’s not clear how to opt in. I think I opted in but there was nothing to say “Congrats! People from #Bluesky can see you!”
Also, how do I receive #Bluesky posts? That’s not apparent to me.
To enable and opt-in you follow this account: @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy
That will start mirroring and federate your ActivityPub account over the ATProtocol and assign a DID.
Then the counterpart for BlueSky you follow: https://bsky.app/profile/ap.brid.gy
And it will start mirroring your ATProtocol account as an ActivityPub account.
AT to AP seems more seamless since AP has more features. Truncating long posts for example looks ugly. The plan is to thread them eventually.
Just had my first exchange across networks with @shreyanjain.net@bsky.brid.gy and it was quite seamless. I think I am officially on team bridge. #fediverse#bluesky#bridgyfed

Är det fler än jag som har aktiverat #bridgyfed utan att några inlägg från Mastodon har blivit replikerade till Bluesky? Min användare finns där sedan igår, men det är fortfarande tomt.
Självklart vet jag att detta är en skakig betaversion som jag inte ska förvänta mig för mycket av. Jag är bara nyfiken på hur det funkar och om det möjligen är jag som har gjort något fel.
BridgyFed for the Fediverse should post as threads if the post exceeds 300 characters. Now it just truncates 500 char posts and people have no idea about the rest of it without any link or context. I know it’s early, but this would be great. @snarfed.org@snarfed.org
Using #Skybridge to see my Bluesky account in #Ivory to boost fed.bird.gy (#Bridgyfed) allowing me to see #Bluesky posts on #Mastodon, and vice versa. If I post something on Mastodon will it appear on Bluesky, and so appear on Mastodon, and so forth, in a mirror of infinite recursion?
