Utrecht University’s board has promised to “reasses” its ties to the Zionist Entity. We recognise this message for what it is: a tactic to placate the masses, keep us silent while the death toll rises to over 45,000 people in Gaza.
We have stated our demands time and time again. However, the university remains insistent on being complicit to genocide and would rather call the riot police on its own students and staff, rather than stand on the right side of history.
Come and join us in demanding an end to our University’s ties to apartheid and genocide. Bring whatever resources you can, as much food and supplies as possible, and join us in the streets as we take back our university.
🇵🇸 In our thousands, in our millions, we are ALL Palestinians. 🇵🇸'
:solidarity: 🍉
'For the third time, Utrecht University has chosen to send in riot police against its own students and staff rather than sever ties with an apartheid state.'
Students and staff all over Utrecht have occupied Utrecht University's library courtyard in respond to the administration's silence and complicity. For over 200 days, the Zionist entity has been committing genocide in Gaza and for the past 76 years, occupying and oppressing Palestine, its lands and its people.
NEVER AGAIN IS NOW.
We call on everyone, students and faculty, neighbours and humans alike, to march to voorstraat entrance of UU and reject normalisation, reject genocide and reject colonialism.
With the looming invasion on Rafah, it is more important than ever to make our voices heard and make the university cut ties with the Zionist entity.
Everyone is welcome to join and we encourage you to bring as many resources as you can and join us in our call.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.
My university has a spectacular botanical garden on campus; whenever I make time to take a lunch walk through, which is not often, I ask myself "why don't I come here more often?" Such an excellent zen moment.
Evolution or revolution in transitions to sustainable, healthy food systems? The annual symposium of Future Food Utrecht brought together different viewpoints on work to improve our current system, or work to revamp the system entirely. Very proud of our session on roles of animals in food systems!
One day was clearly too little but brought a taste for more- to be continued!
Approximately 155 million years ago, a 5000 km piece of continent broke off from western Australia, leaving behind a basin hidden below the ocean known as the Argo Abyssal Plain. This underwater feature lends its name to the newly formed continent of Argoland, which must have drifted to where the islands of Southeast Asia are...
What do we mean by Community Engaged Learning (CEL) at Utrecht University? How do we define CEL? Yesterday the CEL team held a retreat in our always-stunning buildings in the centre of Utrecht- photo is of the stained glass ceiling in the library. Highly inspirational once again to hear examples of CEL from across the UU, and discuss viewpoints for practical implementation.
Are courses with "Community Engaged Learning-like components" a good place to start, or do they water down educational outcomes too much? How to ensure that CEL efforts by educators are recognized and rewarded, and educators using CEL supported?
So many questions, such a bouquet of answers. How does your institute do this?
