Created 65 tickets to migrate from class components to functional , some are small and should be relatively easy others are 2000+ mono components that render whole pages. Legacy #React is such a trip (I’m sure I’m also responsible for similar code in a past life)

mattjbones,

The migration is partly to aid in a typescript migration as we know that there are shared hooks that will replace a lot of the #redux container logic so it’s a good chance to break up / down some of the larger parts of the app and then add typing pretty much for free as we use the common hooks.

mattjbones,

My next goal will be to remove the bulk of #redux, where possible, in favour of data fetching at the component level via #ReactQuery and composed with simpler hooks to encapsulate repeated work - there’s a lot of “take an entity, turn it into a map, memoise the result, pull out a value” which is done in the current app and while it’s at least memoised there’s huge opportunity for neater abstractions

Halloween is almost here, and we've got a beast of an article to celebrate. Gumpy Function takes a stab at The Addams Family for the Game Boy and applies his Redux treatment. See how he tackles this monster and learn some of the secrets to his process.

Have you listened to his #Redux version of the classic album yet?

I've changed my mind about #Redux. It does have it's use cases, especially with persist and sync capability, which is exactly what is needed for stuff like a shopping cart, or my next spur of the moment project :ablobcatreachflip: .

Is there a demand for a #TweetDeck replacement for #Mastodon and #Bluesky together? I've been looking at the competition on Bsky, and somehow they really like #Flutter? I checked flutter again, and the plugin options seem to have not made much progress over the last few years. Lots of quirks in the UI that STILL haven't been fixed.

I was thinking of building a single page app and hosting it on cloudflare pages and using Redux sync to do nonsense like multi-screen, multi-account, multi-tab columns of posts. And maybe I could make it... an Electron app.

Are there any tools similar to #Redux in #React for #Python regarding database caching? I want to basically have a local copy of API results. If a result is not locally available, it is pulled from the API. If it is already locally available, it should return the local cache without calling the API again.
