Does anyone remember MySpace? You used to be able to do all sorts of crazy formatting things to your profile and posts. Then a tyrant named Zuckerberg stole that freedom from you on the grounds that posts should be "readable" and "not hurt your eyes".
That's why I'm proposing a $[meta] element for #MFM. Instead of modifying the contents within the brackets, it would apply to the <article> and therefore the header, body, info, and footer for each post.
Give users the freedom to assault the eyes of their enemies again!
Note: I'm only being half sarcastic here. I'd much rather we have a standard way to do this sort of thing than leaving users to weird hacks. It absolutely should be disable-able. I might sincerely propose this on a future post.
Meanwhile me, also using #Hajkey#Iceshrimp, has #MFM animations turned off and @ada wrote me a bit of CSS to minimise it too cos I can't stand too much of it lol.
This isn't an issue that bothers me particularly (It does look annoying but I can ignore it)...
...but it does raise a question about something that does concern me, particularly as a *Key user. How do screen readers cope with MFM? Are they reading out the entire code piece by piece? ๐ฎ
