#MFM needs to add a way to embed profile pics. Something like

$[pfp.user=julia,domain=eepy.moe]

I guess instance admins could just add a cron job to make current PFPs into custom emoji or do what @via has but it should be easier to go ​:via_happy:​ with some of y'all.

Being able to export my social graph on the Fediverse from Mastodon, then import it into on an entirely different service like Calckey without having to start over has broken my brain.

There really isn't a walled garden on the Fediverse! Adding my Mastodon followers worked flawlessly. I could even import my lists! Rebuilding my content filter rules is a bit of a daunting task best left for some other time. I'm going to enjoy this for a bit.

The enhanced features of MFM posting seem very nice too. A post preview to prevent formatting mistakes? Markdown language with custom emoji? 3k character count? Reactions? All Sweet. I also appreciate being able to add hashtags in their own space without having to insert them throughout the post. It makes texts much easier to read.

First impressions of Calckey are very positive.

This isn't an issue that bothers me particularly (It does look annoying but I can ignore it)...

...but it does raise a question about something that does concern me, particularly as a *Key user. How do screen readers cope with MFM? Are they reading out the entire code piece by piece? 😮

Do you all think I should put a CW on my MFM art animations?

This is a very important issue for me.
I love MFM and I have so much fun creating MFM art and I want to know what you all think.

There are options is calckey settings to disable the MFM animations but maybe I should still use a CW?

What do you all think?

So why use #MFM (#Misskey Flavoured Markdown) and all of the animation power it provides (on #calckey eg)?

... Because where we're going ... we don't need words!

This was literally the top of my #calckey timeline just now (the actual animation goes on much longer than this):

5 second video (GIF) clip. Footage of a screen recording of Calckey, where the same post is being viewed twice (because of boosting). The post contains only emojis, including jellyfish, fish and cats, that have been animated to jiggle and float around the whole post window as though they are in an aquarium.

I learned something new about how perspective works in #MFM. The $[spin.x] and $[spin.y] functions do use it but the way z-stacking works makes it impossible to create a convincing illusion of depth when things overlap. I guess the important thing to remember is that it isn't really 3D.
