I drink this one a lot more than I post about it, but on a beautiful 87°F April day in #Maryland I sat outside for lunch and had a Layered Up Wintertime Stout, because a day like today deserves a smooth, roasty stout. It's always MFing stout season. #ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
Saturday I started off my lunch drinking the Chapless Horseman, a 9.1% ABV Russian imperial stout aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels for 10 months. I rarely enjoy a barrel aged beer as much as I did this one. Denizens Brewing did a fantastic job.
Last was Chocolate Hazelnut French Toasted, a 7% ABV breakfast stout by Black Flag Brewing. The maple syrup was the prominent flavor here, with the hazelnut and chocolate taking a back seat.
Some days you NEED a #beer before the work day ends ... and sometimes a hasty pour makes a bigger mess of an afternoon. I'm having a Sticky Beans by Ever Grain Brewing Company. And I desperately need this 10% ABV imperial coffee stout in my belly. #ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
The lovely Mrs. Porterman and I had a quick mini-date this evening after the kid's softball game. We popped into Nepenthe Brewing in #Baltimore, #Maryland for some boneless Old Bay wings and a drink. I enjoyed Dark Path, a smooth 5.5% ABV vanilla coffee porter. She had the Thiccolas Cage, an 11.2% ABV imperial stout collab brewed with Black Flag Brewing. #beer#ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
Last night my wife and I headed to Idiom Brewing Company in #Frederick, #Maryland for dinner. I grabbed a pint of Blind Luck, a 5.5% ABV dry Irish stout. We also grabbed a pepperoni pizza, which was delicious. #ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
The family and I headed to Frey's Brewing Company in #MountAiry, #Maryland for drinks and games. I started with the Frey's Winter Devil Rave, an 8.5% ABV imperial stout. My wife enjoyed a sugar free caramel vanilla iced coffee. I followed it up with Smoochin' Roy Rogers, a 7% ABV Irish stout. The kid enjoyed a chocolate muffin. We played Tell Me Without Telling Me for a bit followed by a couple rounds of Shut the Box. We always love stops at Frey's! #ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
Drinking a Holy Donut Dark Chocolate Peppermint by Lone Pine Brewing and it's effing great! The dark chocolate is delicious and the peppermint is prevalent but not overbearing. Super smooth as well. Sad I bought a single of this one. I'll definitely be heading back to the store to grab more. #ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
The family and I stopped into Pariah Brewing in #Baltimore. #Maryland for drinks and music. I had a Fudgies, an imperial oatmeal milk stout brewed with peanuts, chocolate, and vanilla. I also had a Breakfast Can Wait, a blonde breakfast stout with coffee and chocolate. #ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
I just opened my very last can of Full Tilt Brewing beer, a Cat's Pajamas Rise N Shine milk stout. It's brewed with coffee, cacao nibs, maple syrup, and lactose. Full Tilt, you are missed. #Baltimore#Maryland#ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
Giving up on the weather, time to enjoy some AGED barrel-aged delights.
#gooseIsland 2021 Bourbon County #stout has aged well, full-bodied with beautiful mellow bourbon and vanilla notes and a sweet brown sugar finish. Decadent!
Running out of ways to influence the weather, #stoutTuesday takes a shot with Snow Emergency #stout from #FultonBrewing. No signs it’ll work, but a good way to cap the day.
FORTY SEVEN degrees in MN in January 31? Maybe I can influence the weather with holiday #stoutWednesday ?
#lefthandBrewing Candy Cane Imperial Peppermint Milk Stout makes its final showing of the season. Unlikely to bend Lother Nature’s will, but still amazingly rich and smooth with a perfect minty sweet balance.
So happy to finally try #revolutionBrewing Deth series! Continuing a vanilla theme, it’s Vanilla Deth imperial stout.
Turns out this is a 2021 can - it’s aged well with a vanilla malty nose and a smooth body. Vanilla caramel with a little kick on the finish to remind you it’s 13.6% ABV.
Yesterday my wife and I headed to #Maryland's newest farm brewery, Stone Silo. I got myself the Oaten Around, a smooth 5.6% ABV oatmeal stout. My wife got the Nehemiah Nectar, a 5.3% ABV tangerine hazy IPA. We both enjoyed our selections. The locals showed up hard in support, as parking and seating were scarce, and it was great to see. There were both picnic tables and Adirondack chairs outside, along with fire pits. #ItsAlwaysStoutSeason@beersofmastodon
Watching the Ravens lose to KC. It’s not film noir, but it’s dark days for Baltimore…
So #stoutSunday pairing is #prairieAles Double Vanilla Noir barrel aged stout! Big vanilla lead with a lasting bourbon sweet finish. Rich and full-bodied.
