#FPQuestion of the day:
Do you match your pens and inks—never, sometimes, or always? For matchy people, what are some of your top “made in heaven” matches? #FountainPens#FountainPenInks
#FPQuestion of the day:
What is your favorite pen of all time? What makes it your favorite? (For this question, it doesn’t have to be one you have owned, or in current production, it can be any pen that has ever existed.) #FountainPens
I've been very happy with the Jinhao fountain pens I have in my pen collection. Working on them and with them I've collected some information that's useful to me and put it in a blog post.

Ok guys tell me if this is a bad idea: I’m thinking of getting a resin 3D printer so I can print some replacement parts for old pens I’m fixing up (nib collar, cap jewel, and the like). Maybe in time I can even print a whole pen.
A shading turquoise with minimal sheen, unlike day 18's Gravity Wave, and leaning brighter and more green than Gravity Wave and Ku-jaku. Still plenty of contrast for daily writing but a nice change of color.

Pen: Jinhao 9019 Dadao F
Paper: Tomoe River 52 gsm original
Proposal: To reuse those tiny Tabasco bottles as travel containers for fountain pen ink.
Problem is, the barrel of the converter doesn't fit inside the bottle mouth. But the tip does. So MAYBE there's a potential system whereby I can turn it upside down, fill it like a syringe from a medicine vial, and NOT risk spilling ink everywhere? Maybe involving some sort of rubber gaskety thing?
#FountainPens are one of those things where the brand names don't reflect what country they're from at all. Case in point, can you figure out whether these companies are from Japan, the USA, or China?
#FPQuestion of the day:
Which of your preferences have shifted during your time using #FountainPens, and why? (e.g. nib width, filling mechanism, preferred ink types or colors) What did you like when you first started that isn’t your favorite anymore? What have you recently become enamored with that you never were before?
I never bought a Chinese made fountain pen before. I'm usually not a fan of knockoffs, even when they're good they're usually not as good as the originals. But Jinhao came out with something pretty neat recently, the Jinhao Dadao no 9019. The design is a lot more their own than a copy of someone else, it's also a pretty large pen, which I find I really do like. Also comes with a screw in converter, which is nice. It's going to be fun to break this one in and see how it goes. :)
I don't know if it's just me or what, but I haven't been thrilled with the Fountain Pen Revolution nibs. I bought two Rialto pens with medium and broad nibs and both had skipping issues with different inks. I chalked it up to bad luck and bought 4 more FPR nibs and the only one that performs reliably is the architect. I have cheap Jinhao pens that are more reliable. Maybe it's the feeds?

Given the vast variety of pens and related items—and the ease of going crazy with acquisitions—what are some tips or ways to control spending or reduce impulse buying while keeping the hobby interesting and fresh? #FountainPens
