#EvilDeadRise is a substantial improvement from 2013's #EvilDead reboot. The characters in this one actually feel real enough for me to get emotionally invested. It does away with the overt campiness of the original trilogy, as is the trend. I've never been a big Ash fan anyway.
Still the VFX/scares stay closer to the fun side of the genre, despite the buckets of blood. The monstrosity at the climax is great.
The perfect end to priDE MONth.
EVIL DEAD RISE is coming to HBO (I refuse to call it Max, it's stupid) on Friday for the US. So excited to finally get to see this movie.
There's no point in making a movie with this premise if you aren't going to cross a few particular lines, and this movie crosses exactly those lines but not the ones that you kinda had a hunch they won't cross - you know exactly who is walking away from this before the book of the dead is even opened.
