If you care about Drupal being an inclusive & open community, please consider how Pantheon's actions, and the #Drupal Association's tacit endorsement of them as a #DrupalCon sponsor, looks & feels to people whose human rights are directly under attack from a group that is literally being platformed by a supposedly-enlightened leader in our community.
"I would say #BackdropCMS has been a net-positive for the #Drupal project… Hopefully [organizations with Drupal 7 sites] will choose to upgrade to Drupal 10 or Drupal 11… but I also recognize that there are a lot of organizations that may not have the means to do that, and for them, Backdrop might be a great solution… I think we can promote that as one of the options for people that are stuck with Drupal 7…"
I like having a certain number of images in the mix that are looking straight down. I think this one just has an interesting mix of details that makes it intersting to me.
Home safely from #drupalcon, but I find myself completely dispirited. We released tons of CO2 flying to Pittsburgh while the world burned around us, and instead of using what little precious time and resources we have left to help solve problems, we spent our time listening to the #Pantheon leadership tie themselves into knots to avoid taking the smallest possible ethical stance against hosting fascists that are responsible for injustice and state-sanctioned violence around the world.
I'm appreciative of all the #drupalcon attendees and broader members of the #drupal community who voiced their opposition to actively supporting hate groups. However, with both #Pantheon and #Acquia leaders doubling down on an "open web" that protects the privilege of groups who are working to take the rights away from other people, it is hard not to conclude that the entire foundation of the drupal project is increasingly rotten.
Had such a fantastic time at #DrupalCon this year and saw some amazing talks, but it felt super condensed with only 2 days of sessions. The last couple days have been a blur so I look forward to decompressing this weekend and writing up a post!
Good morning #DrupalCon! Yesterday @e0ipso and I presented on Single Directory Components in #Drupal core. During the session I narrated a video where I converted a component to use SDC. You can see a version of this narration at https://youtu.be/DbpZOhiq_Ho
We have pitched at the innovation contest Pitch-Burgh at this years #DrupalCon in Pittsburgh to receive funding for one of the next #Drupal ECA improvements, the model inspector. a tool that will greatly help site builders to create ECA models.
Unfortunately, we haven't been elected, so we're still looking for funding. @lakedrops is committed to fund 50%, but we're still looking for 11.000€ - please boost for more reach.
Atten: #DrupalCon - If you are interested in BackdropCMS or if you looking for a nice group of people to have dinner with tonight, meet us near the registration area at 5:15pm.
We will be moving to a nearby restaurant to share a meal and chat about #backdropcms
Conference centers really need to think more about mobility assistance. My foot is hurting, so it took me extra time to walk all the way around the parameter of this very large building, and by the time I got there, the #drupalcon session was standing room only.
Thanks everyone for a really good day at #DrupalCon. It is so nice to be back with this community. So many people I have gotten to know over the years.
We finally have a firm end of life for Drupal 7. January 5th, 2025.
If anyone wants to talk about about BackdropCMS, please be in touch.
The #BackdropCMS folks here at DrupalCon will be meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) for dinner. Find one of us for the details (if we have figured them out by then).
At a fun session on How To Make Big Things Happen in Drupal. Community members are sharing what they learned at leading community initiatives. Important ideas.
