A favourite film a day for 365 days: Harold & Maude.
Harold is young, rich and gloomy, and likes to commit suicide. It's his hobby. Then he meets Maude, who's 80, and getting everything she can out of life. Funny, anarchic, very 1970s. The absolute definition of a cult movie. (Great Cat Stevens songs.)
Finally checked out Suspiria the other day... the visuals were indeed gorgeous but the directing and dialogue seemed very haphazard. I didn't expect this movie to be meaningful but ultimately wasn't entertained either🤷🏼♀️
All in all, it felt like watching paint dry ...and definitely like a shameless Brian DePalma ripoff, sans the symbolical significance or a stringent plot.
Mmm... time to rewatch Phantom of the Paradise to soothe myself?🥹
There is a good piece about Stuart Gordon, Joe Haldeman and Charles Band making "Robot Jox" in the Vietnam Issue of Journey Planet, if you dig #SciFi#CultMovies#BMovies#GenreMovies#Film
you should check it out.
I really like Journey Planet always some great stuff in there, (the science fiction musical instruments issue earlier this year was a treat!), totally recommend.
"Come, play with us, Mothra ..."

Going to be live-drawing the Ito Twins as the Shobijjn during tomorrow's Monsterdon presentation of Mothra (1961). Watch and toot along during the movie while I post progress shots and riff along with the rest of the Monster-heads. The show starts at 9 PM EST!

Still cannot believe that this ended up getting a 4K UHD release.
Just found out that this existed recently, and quickly snatched up a copy. Really fun (and weird) film for those who have never seen it (and a great soundtrack to boot).
