With 19 days remaining until #TearsOfTheKingdom, I figured for my first prior run of Mastodon posts I'd countdown with my personal ranking of each game in the franchise that has meant so much to me through most of my life.
The series first handheld entry in 1993 didn't bring any particular gameplay innovations, but did introduce music as a core concept and brought a powerful sense of whimsy the first three entries lacked that is now more than any other recurring concept the defining series staple. Don't underestimate its ranking at #14, I never had opportunity to play this when it was new so wasn't until the 2019 remake I dived in, but I wouldn't debate anyone who would rank this as their #1.
Once again, the top thing on Letterboxd I haven't seen. I haven't seen a lot of Studio Ghibli, and I feel like people kind of overhype those movies, but anyway, it's --
