Why do people think that this weird UX pattern where you have to click on a post’s timestamp to see more details is a good idea? This can be excused on HN, that whole site is a UX mess, but Substack and official Mastodon do this too. Does anybody find this intuitive?

@miki What is HN?

By now I find it intuitive, as Twitter and Facebook have been doing it for a long time. But at first not.

@miki It does kinda feel like a sorta standard affordance these days, for better or worse. I'm not sure where it started, but I'm also used to the timestamp being a permalink sort of thing for posts and comments a few other places, like Reddit and Twitter.

@joby I feel like it’s one of those things, like the Hamburger menu, which seems obvious to those in the know but puzzling to everybody outside tech circles.
