Malthusian shit == Eugenics

Some people may disagree, but they are morons.

punissuer,

@Radical_EgoCom Maybe we should remind them that each Eco-Fascist has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to de-overpopulate earth by one…

The fun part is: Better education, better healthcare, social security, etc. leads to fewer children since there are alternatives to "having many children so you don't starve when you are old".

Therefore, pursuing those goals on a global scale makes sense even from their perspective...

@wakame

And this has been confirmed with different studies, in particular by French sociologists: raise the standard of living and people make less children.

@Radical_EgoCom Geeze. I just saw one a few minutes ago too. What is wrong with people?

punissuer,

@dwc

It's a chain reaction.

  • Indeed, the interests of the oppressors lie in 'changing the consciousness of the oppressed, not the situation which oppresses them.'
  • The oppressors, who oppress, exploit, and rape by virtue of their power, cannot find in this power the strength to liberate either the oppressed or themselves.
  • The oppressed, instead of striving for liberation, tend themselves to become oppressors.

Seemingly every time those two viewpoints come into contact, they instantly merge into a single "we need more babies from the good people but not from the bad people" viewpoint.

It's almost as though both natalists and Malthusians are just different aspects of that somewhat fourteen-wordsy viewpoint already.

philipp,

@Radical_EgoCom thanks, I didnt know the term Malthusian! Read this article a while back and dont accept any false #Overpopulation argument https://www.vox.com/energy-and-environment/2017/9/26/16356524/the-population-question

rambyzombie,

@Radical_EgoCom I find that Malthusian bullshit is just typically used as an excuse to practice forced eugenics. We are not at Earth's carrying capacity, we are not even at the finite limit of the population we can give a first world life style too now, stop trying to police people, not you in particular, though don't, @Radical_EgoCom , but the general "you" of humans as a broad category.

johnbessa,

@rambyzombie @Radical_EgoCom

Not fair!
Women of the World deserve the ability control their family sizes.

Given the ability, families average 1.8 children / woman. (I think.) This includes big families and no-child families. We can relax a bit.

As I recall, all he said is that bad things happen when the population outstrips the food supply.

BTW, meat is the problem, not cars, not by a long shot.

rambyzombie,

@johnbessa @Radical_EgoCom Where did I say that people shouldn't be able to control their family size? I said that attempting to demand that people control their family sizes is just back door eugenics.

I don't care what any individual wants of their family size, but no one else deserves to even have a say in the matter, it is a personal decision alone.

johnbessa,

@rambyzombie @Radical_EgoCom
The decision is made by the people who control access to birth control. Even here in Canada with free medicine, it is not a guarantee. Forget Africa where population growth is capital growth (for the 1st World).

There isn't any choice if control isn't available - you sound a little defensive. I think you see the flaw in your thinking, just don't want to admit it to yourself.

rambyzombie,

@johnbessa @Radical_EgoCom I mean, not really, I am more annoyed that Malthusian nonsense still gets passed around to this day more then Ii am defensive.

And, no, that isn't an argument for anything other then deconstructing capitalism so everyone has equal access to all forms of medical care and family planning.

johnbessa,

@rambyzombie @Radical_EgoCom
Wow, you really don't see the obvious flaw in your thinking. All he said was that the population with suffer if outstrips the food supply. Africa when the Ukrainian wheat supply got cut by Putin. Obvious - but not to you.

rambyzombie,

@johnbessa @Radical_EgoCom The thing is, your issue is a solution without a problem. We have enough food to feed everyone. The problem isn't logistics, it is profit. Ending profit ends food scarcity in full. Destroying capitalism will end hunger. There is no flaw here.

salatan,

@Radical_EgoCom I think you can be pretty anti-natalist without taking a malthusian stance. Malthusianism assumes a fixed limit on the upper cap of sustainable human civilization. The numbers that were presented were repeatedly proven false by the amount of humans a few decades later. Other reasons to be against birth might for example be: seeing new life as disturbing a painless existence
or thinking that humans are taking too much space as a species in relation to others.
Also, being anti-natalist does not necessarily mean, that individuals are targeted for wanting kids. It can also mean to encourage robust social security, to make children unnessecary as an income source during retirement, or providing cheap/free contraception and furthering the independence of women.

Also, what eco-fascists standpoint did they take ? In the screenshot I see malthusian anti-natalism and I can see how fascism can try to draw justificatiom from this and how it's a morally and factually wrong standpoint, but I think neither the methods nor the fighting logic of fascism were positively referenced.
