danciruli, 23 days ago @atomicpoet I agree. I DID find the historical context interesting, and I learned a bunch watching it. The labels don't matter; I think her vocals are fantastic.

atomicpoet, 23 days ago @danciruli I think Miles Davis’ opinion on jazz speaks volumes: “Jazz is only a white man’s word he gave to music he couldn’t play. You know, so we don’t use that word.” He didn’t like to call his own music jazz. He preferred the term “social music”.
