I wanted to write a comedy script about congress minting a multi trillion dollar coin to pay off the federal debt and the movie is a heist movie of a group of people trying to steal it because they're too dumb to work through the impossible logisitics of spending a trillion dollar coin.
Then I found out that Canada minted five million-dollar gold coins weighing 100kg each, and someone successfully stole one:
@hakui@sun there's a 1000kg Australian gold coin with a face value of a mere AU$1000000. Even at time of minting in 2011 the metal was worth more than 50x that lmao
