Recently I heard a podcast where a Scientist was interviewed. He was super competent and informative. But it definitely wasn't fun listening. He simply wasn't a great speaker.
And I think that's a problem of nowadays society. I've heard a couple of times that the scientific "community" dislikes people who can both simplify AND talk properly to people.
But if you want to reach the masses, I think it's exactly those ppl who are essential to bring knowledge to the masses.
@hikingdude@elaterite I agree it takes a different skill set. I think Steve Jobs has a famous quote about how it is easy to make things complex, much harder to make them simple. People only have so much bandwidth to take in new information (at least I do) and digest it.

Oh yes. And not just the content. But also the ability to speak fluently. Without breaking a sentence 4x and no "uhm", "Hm",.. Especially in a podcast / interview that's soo important to me as a listener
