Really pressed into a vector space analysis of C major scale and basic triads this morning, and got a few things out that I hope will inform my playing. Lot's of #ggplot2 #rstats graphs too

I should get back to work, but making these graphs was pretty fun

So cool! My colleagues and I have thought and discussed about chord similarity/distance quite a lot, how would you define it?

@johentsch

Ha, it's funny to me, definitions of what similarity means in general in human cognition is one of my back to work questions...I don't have an immediate answer for you in terms of defining chord similarity, but I'll think about this and see what I can come up with.

johentsch,

@MattCrumpLab
BTW, have you come across the Tonnetz? Since tonal space is quite different from Euclidean space it might be more fruitful in your endeavour to see how chords are moving as well as their respective relationships.

@johentsch Seen it on some isomorphic midi keyboards, but never looked at the concept closely. Very fun, thanks for sharing

johentsch,

@MattCrumpLab
Wow, I was unaware of these!!! :amaze: Have you ever used one?

@johentsch Nope, always wanted to try one
