Morning Mastodoners! Up playing with my teensy Jelly Star Android phone, which arrived earlier this week and which my wonderful friends Glenn and Megan helped me set up last night. So far my first foray into Android's been an interesting, surprising, and occasionally frustrating experience. And yes, if the name Jelly Star has you thinking of at least one Spongebob character every time you hear it, be assured you're not the only one.
I'd never used #Talkback extensively before yesterday, and while typing and some of the gestures are taking some getting used to, I love all the sound effects and haptic feedback. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time on @accessibleandroid 's site over the next few weeks. #Blind#Android users, got any newbie tips or app suggestions for me?
@dotsonapage I hope you enjoy exploring Android. Check out our Getting Started Guide for answers to frequently asked questions about Android accessibility. You can also take a look at our list of apps. They have all been carefully reviewed and approved by our team.
@dotsonapage We appreciate it. We are working hard to add more content on a regular basis and encourage other Android users to join us on this journey, so keep following us.
@dotsonapage There might be a temporary issue with the Google Play Store for web if you still cannot find your apps that you installed through the site. Try restarting your device to see if this helps.
@accessibleandroid Maybe you could help with my current problen. I tried installing apps from the Play Store to my phone using my PC. Play says they're installed, but when I checked the home screen or tried opening them with Assistant they didn't show up. my phone's registered with the store and appears to be the only connected device so not sure what's going on.
Here's the phone I bought, which is still on sale. It's tiny, with only a 3-inch screen, but that's fine for totally #Blind me, and the 256gb of storage makes up for that. Also you can connect a keyboard or #Braille display via Bluetooth or USBC, which is pretty sweet. Still keeping my iPhone as my primary phone, with this as a backup media player/Internet-connected device. https://www.unihertz.com/products/jelly-star
