I'm used to the inner and middle reaches of the #Stockholm archipelago. Summer houses everywhere, many of them 150 years old, and boats boats boats. Gryt archipelago has the exact same geology and flora -- but hardly any summer houses or boats. Just a few old fishing villages.

There are lots of summer houses in Gryt's archipelago. My parents and their friends have been there for decades, centuries even. If you're not seeing boats, is there still ice because it's thick with boats from Västervik up to Arkösund.

Södra Finnö has lots, it's partly why they actually bothered to build the bridge.

@copperred Sure, a big island with a bridge has summer houses.

There is no ice in June in the Baltic Sea. And there are hardly any boats at all right now in the Gryt archipelago.

The size of the island has very little to do with it.

Free shrugs on your anecdotal experience. There are lots of houses on the islands, sufficient that Ösgötatrafiken finally restored boat bus service a number of years ago.
