Hey friends!

Can you see the symbols between the arrows?

→ 𓇳𓏤𓁛 ←

If not, could you please let me know what device, OS, browser, etc you're using?

THANKS!

@Edent I get the same partial as others have seen, MacOS 10.15.17 Chrome 118.0.5993.117

Chrome Inspect says:
.SF NS—Local file(6 glyphs)
Noto Sans EgyptHiero—Local file(3 glyphs)

on the jsfiddle
Chrome Inspect says:
Noto Sans Egyptian Hieroglyphs—Network resource(4 glyphs)

@Edent sure. Cheap ancient android 13 phone (can't remember the model name), running current Tusky.

MikeHar94962844,

@Edent There's something there but whatever they are they're too small and faint for me to make out on this Lenovo tablet using Tusky.

Dtl,
@Dtl@mastodon.social avatar

@Edent yep, latest tusky on latest Android release on pixel 6 phone.

NatalyaD,
@NatalyaD@disabled.social avatar

@Edent Nope. Can't see the symbols.

I'm using Debian Linux with Mate desktop and Firefox v115.4.

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@NatalyaD Thanks! Are you able to see the symbols on here?

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org avatar

@Edent I can, using Ivory.

derickr,
@derickr@phpc.social avatar

@Edent I can't. I see →, three blocks, ←. Linux, Firefox, PC, but still with more fonts installed than most people.

derickr,
@derickr@phpc.social avatar

@Edent Not even after doing "apt install fonts-ancient-scripts" can I see them, and that ought to have included hieroglyphs

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@derickr weird! I can't remember installing a specific font - I thought it was build in.

Good to know though, thanks!

derickr,
@derickr@phpc.social avatar

@Edent Actually, I lie. They do now work after having installed that. Just took a bit for the font to get available in X11, I suppose.

@Edent ah. Well then it’s all good.

vegos_f06, (edited )

@Edent Latest Firefox on latest Debian LINUX. Font is missing.
OK Noto sans, but I will not install this bloatware!

dashdsrdash,

@Edent

Yup. Debian Stable, Firefox, tilde.zone's mastodon instance. 𓇳𓏤𓁛

@Edent yes, iOS embedded Safari (in ivory) 17.1.1

servelan,
@servelan@newsie.social avatar

@Edent What symbols are we supposed to see? Little boxes b/c the browser/app doesn't recognize are symbols just as are Æ, Ï, Ø and ù

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@servelan You're meant to see Egyptian Hieroglyphs.

ldodds,
@ldodds@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@Edent yes I can see three empty rectangles* using Chrome on Ubuntu 22.04 😅

  • you asked!
Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@ldodds task failed correctly.

ldodds,
@ldodds@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@Edent do you need more detailed browser version? This is on my Dell laptop, btw

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@ldodds nah, enough people have said they can't see them. I'll have to embed a font in my blog post 🙂

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@ldodds Thanks! Are you able to see the symbols on here?

ldodds,

@Edent yep

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@ldodds hurrah! Thanks.

denny,

@Edent Ooh. I think I'm getting 2 out of 3? I see a CD, what I think is a unicode missing character block, and then something which is probably not a duck balancing a ball on its head sitting in a church pew 🙂

Android, Brave browser.

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@denny close enough!

darius,
@darius@friend.camp avatar

@Edent nope! Linux desktop (Ubuntu 22), Firefox 119

Edent,
@Edent@mastodon.social avatar

@darius Are you able to see them on this page?
