Have so much extra stuff in my house I need to move on, I've mostly done eBay the last 20 some years but it's been DEAD on there lately. Throwing some stuff on Mercari today to try it out, my friend's had luck on there. Looks kinda promising. Only thing I hate about it is that it's like Amazon, the seller gets paid after the buyer receives the item. I've never liked that, having to front shipping money, but here we are. Also, Mercari's shipping estimates are too low/not updated with USPS' much higher prices now either, I noticed, so I'm just gonna ship myself, I don't want them compensating me wrong, shipping is pretty expensive now. But here we go. Fronting shipping to to try and move some of this stuff. 🙄🤣
I put a ton of stuff up in December and January that was vintage stuff cleared out of my mother-in-law's house after we moved her to assisted living. I sold a good chunk of it early in December and by the end of January most of my best stuff was sold.
Not much happened until yesterday. Someone bought a vintage sewing table for $160. I was thrilled. Now after spending all evening trying to figure out how to pack a heavy sewing table into a flat box, I'm not so enthusiastic.
But, I'm still going to be very happy once I have one more big object outta the house. Just a few more and I can start working out in my garage again.
So it's dead right now, huh? I listed around 30 items in the winter and have been coasting on those. I was thinking of getting off my butt and trying to move some more clutter outta here. Maybe I'll wait.
@sysop408 hah I've had no luck.. It's like games, toys, clothing, car parts, books, household stuff, just a wide variety of stuff that usually sells. Wow packing that.. Gonna be wild! But it sold! 🤣 I got 11 things on Mercari now- I know my prices were about right, too, because they're the same ones Mercari is suggesting 🙄🤣
@jake4480 OMG it was a nightmare to pack! First, I was so lucky to still have a box for a flat screen TV that was the perfect size for the table.
I thought I was all set until I started packing and realized this table has all sorts of weird appendages and protruding points that could bang into each other and get damaged if handled hard in transit.
That's when the fun started.
I'll have to write the buyer and apologize that along with the table, I'm shipping him 8 blocks of oddly shaped styrofoam, 4 polystyrene cubes, wads of bubble wrap, and some more random hunks of styrofoam glued to cardboard.
@jberg ah, yeah - the Feb/March slump is real but like someone else said on here before, usually there's some at end of April - nothing. Nothing since Jan. It's bizarre. I have almost 60 things on my eBay store, priced reasonably and yeah that's all I can figure. Everyone's struggling. Heck, I need the money for car repairs hahaha
