Years ago Google set a deadline for dropping support for third party cookies in Chrome. But this commitment has been pushed back multiple times. I simply switched to Safari years back which actually did meet this commitment and it has been great not being tracked. Websites still work normally. Now Google is claiming their Privacy Sandbox project is moving forward and 1% of users will not be tracked to start. Another tracking system will replace it.
