TrippyFocus, (edited ) in [Woj] BREAKING: The Portland Trail Blazers are trading guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell ESPN.

As long as it’s not for Giannis I love this. We desperately needed outside shooting and Dame has shown he steps up big in the playoffs. Expecting a Nuggets/Bucks final now.

Edit:

Trade details:

Lillard goes Milwaukee as part of a 3-team deal with Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, a 2029 unprotected MIL 1st, and unprotected MIL swap rights in 2028 and 2030 to Blazers. Phoenix lands Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little and Keon Johnson.

Losing Jrue hurts their perimeter defense a lot but I think you live with that to get Dame for just Jrue/Allen. The interior defense will still be great and there offense should be much better now on the playoffs. Think it’ll come down to how much you can get from Middleton and just have to hope Lopez doesn’t have a big drop or anything like that.

Really sad to see Jrue go tho, seems like one of the nicest guys in the league so wish him the best.

conciselyverbose,

Man that would be hilarious.

It definitely makes them more interesting. I think it's entirely possible to slow down a duo if the rest of the roster can't step up, but it's going to take a lot of work at the defensive end.

TrippyFocus,

Yeah it’ll come down to how much they can get from Middleton I think. I don’t expect Brook to fall off much since he had a great year last year and doesn’t rely on athleticism a lot but Middleton did not look good coming back from injury and they’ll need him to decent still if they want to win it all.

ironcrotch,

That’s a pretty good return for Dame for Portland and Dame gets a solid chance at chip with Giannis.

Phoenix must be very unhappy with Ayton to unload him like that but flip side is his value alone probably didn’t seem very high recently.

streetfestival, (edited ) in Canada vs. Latvia result, highlights: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dominates, Canadians win to finish atop group
@streetfestival@lemmy.ca avatar

I was surprised to see Latvia beat Les Bleus (France), less so their beating the Cedars (Lebanon) - who have a decent squad. Group H was just a really competitive first round group!

The final score doesn’t reflect how dominant Latvia was today against Canada. Latvia showed off their 3-point shooting, as expected. But they also penetrated very effectively, either drive and kick or laying it up at the rim. I think their captain is out for the rest of the tournament, unfortunately.

Kelly Olynyk was key to keeping us in this game the first half, before Shai found his groove in the second half and so did our defence. I believe Lu Dort is scheduled to come back for Friday’s (09:30 ET) game, which is awesome! His defence and size has been missed. Canada’s fell behind at the start of all three games. They’re going to want to tidy that up as the competition picks up! I’d love to see us run some drive and kicks!

li10, in NBA social media employee posts rant using official account

He then went on to make another post promoting his own social media management company…

Why would anyone else ever trust him with a social media account??

kakes,

Lmao not only is it incredibly “unprofessional,” but the post literally starts with “How do I log out of this?” Not exactly inspiring confidence haha.

Hank,

The American way.

Did he? You'd think he'd want to not draw attention to his social media management company while simultaneously burning bridges.....

just a hunch, but i don't think they "resigned" from their nba job.

Chadus_Maximus,

The real smart thing is to promote a competitor’s social media management company. Make them suffer the bad press.

Anticorp,

There’s no such thing as bad publicity. I used to think that was hyperbole, but after watching the orange guy, the long rat, the nerdy book of faces guy, the puffy lips ladies with a famous lawyer daddy, and a slew of other people outrage themselves to the top, I believe it.

Granite,

Oof. Went from okay to trashy real quick.

suenoromis,

Genuinely curious, what’s trashy about this post?

Granite,
Granite avatar

It’s okay to call out your shitty employer, but to promote your own business with the same breath takes away the gravitas of the call out. Makes it seem contrived to build your brand rather than an authentic call out.

elscallr,
@elscallr@lemmy.world avatar

It wasn’t their employer, it was an ex employer who has bad security practices. They get to feel that burn.

Scheme,

The only thing burned here is the bridge between this guy and the NBA. If you value networking and reputation, this isn’t the move.

fushuan,

It’s not this post that is trashy, it’s the one they allegedly posted about promoting their other current company. Wtf.

Unreal shot. Happy for Jabari. He should take a leap under actual coaching.

Decide whether you want to back Michael Jordan or LeBron James as the GOAT, and then only accept information that supports your stance and ridicule anyone with a differing opinions.

*It’s Jordan by the way

Getting into the beef early on ofc

GaryPonderosa,

Yeah. The other option is be a Knicks fan so no one ever accuses you of being a bandwagon fan.

rezz, in What are the good bang-for-the-buck signings so far?

Easily Westbrook if he produces like he did last year. Not even close. While there are better overall value contracts, dollar-per-pound, he is objectively the best $4M ever spent in the league possibly.

CaptainBananaFish,

can we leave “not even close” in reddit lol

rezz,

spoilernot even close

somethingisnotwrite, in What are the good bang-for-the-buck signings so far?

Gabe Vincent is the exact guy you want around Lebron if he stays healthy this year and while his defense is subpar, he can be a great 40% 3pt shooter and still has a little bit of on ball talent a well.

Great pickup.

dreboy, in What are the good bang-for-the-buck signings so far?

Austin Reaves’s deal was a lot cheaper than I expected

logaston, in What are the good bang-for-the-buck signings so far?

Eric Gordon on that 2yr/6M was also a strong bargain. Suns doing well this off season.

@gon@lemmy.world avatar

Green is more valuable short-term, he's been there for 11 years of winning. Poole has some upside, if he keeps getting better... But he might NOT get better, in which case he's a decent bench player on a huge contract.

IDK

ipkpjersi, in [Shams Charania] The NBA is suspending Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant for 25 games, sources tell The Athletic

HAHAHAHA what the hell, they teased it like it would be a whole season

bill_1992,

100%, this dude was straight up gassing up the suspension, reminding everyone every game that they didn't want to reveal the suspension to take away from the finals.

In the end it's 25 games. At least it's not retroactively applied like the last suspension?

arclmpulse,

I guess Silver was right to delay it, we would've been talking about his soft ass during the finals instead LOL

ipkpjersi,

I guess he was right but for the wrong reasons LMAO

Literally the second time he's waving around a gun, he only gets 25 games, what the fuck is that shit.

Calvin, in [Shams Charania] The NBA is suspending Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant for 25 games, sources tell The Athletic

That's it? Made it sound like a damn season with all this build up.

You can tell by how miserable he looks, being knocked out of the playoffs and having to find other things to do. :P

TrippyFocus, in THE MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION

Seen from a couple sources that despite the social media talk about moving KAT, it’s likely the team will keep him at least another season and see how things shake out.

I have my doubts about KAT but it would be tough to move him for a better player since they don’t have much for assets to include if they want a clear upgrade.
