I'm on Linux full time, and absolutely new to DAWs so I trialed Reaper, LMMS, and Bitwig this weekend.

Going with Reaper, even though it looks a little clunky, bc it's dead simple to set up on Linux. Not least because it supports Alsa, which seems to be the only way to eliminate latency. You'll have to find your own midi fonts (or whatever they're called) though.

LMMS would be my fav if it supported live instrument / vocal recording.
