Wandering around the supermarket an idea came to me. #keto haggis: all the meat and flavourings of the traditional dish, but, without the carbs inherent in oatmeal. Maybe replace oatmeal with some type of coarsely chopped nuts.
@fitheach
I feel the same about #gluten in haggis.
I mean, it's just a case of replacing the oats with G.F. oats and the jobs a good un but it's still incredibly difficult to find food G.F. haggis (or other savoury puddings)
@Jkp
Is avenin a problem for you? However, haggis is also likely to have other grains, like barley, which do have gluten. All of them are an issue for me.
I'm resigned to the fact that if I want these things (like haggis) I need to make them myself. Keto isn't that common in Scotland, yet.
@fitheach
By avenin I presume Gluten?
😃
And, no, but my wife was diagnosed as coeliac some years ago and I just agreed to clear the house of gluten to save any issues with cross contamination.
Oats have to be processed as Gluten Free otherwise they will be loaded with the stuff by being in contact with the same milling machinery 🤷♂️
It's a minefield.
They gave us flash cards in French to show at restaurants when we went on our first ever foreign holiday the same year that the coeliac disease was diagnosed.
Sods law in full flow there then!
