The person who runs fediverse.info is a nice person who does a lot on the Fediverse, they created Pixelfed for example.
Personally I'd say it's worth the effort to find community on here because it tends to be a nicer community which engages more meaningfully. You tend to get nicer conversations on here compared to centralised algorithm-driven networks like Twitter and Facebook.
