I specifically added the folkiest track, but the whole album is fantastic. Hidden gem!
The song is Yarilo...
Folkier and harsher than Nekrogoblikon, very much reminding me of Trollfest, so if you want more troll metal, here you go ;)...
An important song, video, message in current times.
No idea what they are singing about, but the video with the English explanations is hilarious :D I might buy this one....
Finally, some nice releases this week :) Varg is probably well known (especially with all the Germans here), I do like the strong female vocals in here....
Or as they call themselves: Dutch Epic Party Folk Metal. They were announced as a new band on my yearly folk metal festival, and all I could find online were ~5 seconds from a crappy live recording....
This is not bad. I don’t love it, but my favorite folkmetal release of this sad year 2023 so far. If they were playing at a festival I’m at, I’d go and watch them ;)...

Let’s see if we can get a tiny bit of activity here so I’m not 95% of this sub ;)
I’m seeing them tomorrow in Munich, and I’m really looking forward to it. How’s the opening act, Gunnar? The bit I listened to on Spotify felt very different from The Hu, and I have to admit, I wasn’t too excited.
Hungarian Folk-Metal Band Dalriada, male & female vocals (both clean and unclean)
Another band I saw last weekend at Hörnerfest. Danish folk metal.
They played at the folk metal festival I just returned from. I did not plan to see them, but my wife wanted to. Was positively surprised. The studio versions don’t fully do them justice, they sound more metal live, and generally have an amazing stage presence (I feel like all Asian bands are a step above others in that...
