These all sound like great improvements, except for;
> "Load more” no more. As you scroll through your feed new posts transparently load in the background
What motivated that change? Infinite scroll is frowned on these days, and most digital wellness advice favours a 'load more' button. Semaphore.social provides as an option for toggling between the two.
The #pachli change fixed a bug (posts going missing) inherited from #tusky
There are 2 UX affordances to skip up (tap the tab, and "Load newest posts" from the menu)
A large number of user requests for this feature
Consistency with the web UI
The digital wellness "infinite scroll" info I've seen relates to "never-ending" content; companies inserting content into your feed that you did not ask for, where the feed does not have a natural end point.
@strypey@mondstern That's not the case with Mastodon, your home timeline has a defined stopping point, where there really is no more information to read. Content is not inserted to your timeline to keep you engaged, it's only inserted because you explicitly requested it.

... depends on how many people you follow. My feed is effectively endless and TBH I seldom have time to drink from the firehose, after reading and responding to my notifications.
@strypey@mondstern Sure, but that's a deliberate choice you've made, and you're in a better position to decide how long your timeline is than I am.
Mastodon provides other controls too, like moving some followees to a list you've marked as "exclusive" so their posts don't show up on your home timeline.
And there are apps you can install that will report how long you're using an app, or block it's use between certain hours.
