@metin Definitely! Lots of the classics (Back to the Future, Halloween, Alien, Seven, Taxi Driver, etc). To my shame, I have to admit that I've never seen Das Boot, even though it's one of the most famous films ever made in Germany 🙈.

You write that the experience survived the test of time. This is good to hear, as I struggle with older films that have not aged well. I think either brilliant films with good dialogue (like I imagine Das Boot) or over-the-top silly films and CGI (like Robocop 😂) still work for me.
@metin Have you seen the new adaptation? I have not, but I would be interested in a comparison. I agree that the themes in the old film are visionary, while the presentation is caricatural and charming. But that is something that is rather rare in the modern blockbuster film industry.
@daniel I haven't seen the new one. I'm usually wary of remakes, as it is rare that they surpass the original. But there are exceptions, such as The Hills Have Eyes:
@daniel I also know very little sequels that are better than the original. But there are also exceptions there, such as Terminator 2. And sometimes a sequel is as good as the original, for example: Alien and Aliens.
When it comes to remakes, I also think that John Carpenter's The Thing is better than the original.
