I just turned 61. I don't feel any different just yet, but, may have lost another hair. My first task for #today upgrade this #Debian installation. Should do the Win 11 machine, too, maybe later.
@PupCrowbar WOOOF WOOF!! I see you're wagging your little but tail; how cute!! Thanks for the birthday wishes! Now, to get to work on that personality upgrade... LOL!
@wx1g
Have a great day! I know you were feeling down. But please know that your voice is very important and appreciated in our little corner of Mastodon.
@Sensualme Thanks! This laptop is from Think Penguin, and has no components that require non-free firmware. Good News: The latest stable Debian net install includes some distributable non-free stuff. A big problem folks had was getting the Intel wifi thing recognized by distros like Debian and Trisquel. Ubuntu has included this stuff for a long time, but not from its beginning. I'm not sure what Slackware is doing, these days, re: non-free firmware.
@wx1g My first forage into the Linux world was during the 1980's with Suse Linux 7.1. But lately I used Ubuntu on an old 64 bit laptop which died last year, motherboard problem I think, I loved Ubuntu, very impressive. Thought I would give Debian a first time try and thank you for advice. I'm sure someone in the family has a disused computer I could commandeer and use as a stand alone unit. I don't fancy dual booting from my Windows 11 this time. Not tried Slackware yet.
@wx1g Yes, 2 seperate machines for me this time, I like the simplicity aspect of that. Being of a similar age to your good self, it would help me to avoid unnecessary confusion.
