@huwr I think indexing a loan is the right thing to do. They should go back to not charging, or charging a nominal amount. My 90’s HECS debt was $10k for three years, repayments started at 3%, and only above average income. It was far more reasonable.

@corduroy @huwr Education should be free for as long as people can take advantage of it. If we can't even do that as a society, what the fuck are we even doing pretending to be a society?

@bazscott this is the ultimate solution: all uni to be free entirely and they to waive all the existing debts.

I get frustrated by the cynical types who only see uni as a way to get a job — and that some degrees are therefore not valid (some of the most expensive and difficult degrees are the poorest paid jobs)
