I have scanned a lot of old black and white photos and now I want to restore some of them with #affinity / #affinityphoto.
Of course #affinity is mainly focused on color images. Does anyone know of a plugin that is particularly suitable for processing old black and white images?
While Affinity Photo is perfectly capable of editing photos, NIK Silver Efex is a wonderful plugin for black and white. It has simulations of classic film brands and you can "develop" on different types of photo paper. So much fun...
I know you asked about Affinity, but Photoshop has a filter that is pretty capable of colorizing black and white photos, making them look close to old hand colored prints.
Yeah, think they are still on legacy plugin pricing. I don't think you can get Silver Efex as a standalone purchase unfortunately. They do offer a trial period so you can check if it is what you want to spend money on though.
I’m a few versions back, don’t use it enough to grab every upgrade.
