Most designs I see for home automation apps are pretty but absolutely not convenient to use. It should be super quick to do an action, otherwise it’s better to just do it physically.
@hywan I learned this when I was trying to make a label printer work with my kitchen flow. Instead I just use some masking tape and a sharpie, so much faster.
@hywan I have some Enocean buttons (no battery) around the house for this exact purpose. Switch the light on/off (and go to the app if you want to change the color), start/stop music or change the volume (and to go the app to choose a song)
@swallez@hywan je fais pareil, j'appuie sur des boutons éléectriques pour allumer/eteindre la lumière, et j'appuie sur le bouton de mon ampli pour allumer eteindre ma musique. Et tout ça sans que ce soit "connectés" ;-)
Plus sérieusement, je n'ai jamais compris l'intéret des ampoules connectées, c'est du pure gadget pour moi, en plus d'un gouffre énergetique monstrueux (cf l'infra que met en oeuvre philips pour ses ampoules hues par ex).
@ljouanneau@swallez It’s not just lights. It’s how you expose the data you need in a UI. If you need 3-5 taps to reach your data, it’s too long. 1 tap + 1 scroll, that should be that fast.
