Looks fast standing still, as the saying goes.

A couple months in and I'm still really happy with the BYD Seal. The switch to electric has turned out to be really easy. This has probably been helped by choosing an EV that is, from a driver's perspective, very conventional (A separate driver's instruments display! Indicator stalks! Physical buttons!) but it is also reflective of the fact that electric cars are now mature tech, with more than enough range for most people's needs. In fact I think that for most people electric cars are already better overall. Better to ride in (quieter, roomier cabins) and better to drive (smooth, instant and abundant acceleration). The main issues are the still higher costs and access to home charging for renters and residents of units, but both of those are becoming less of a problem over time.

@thepoliticalcat Similar for us. We don't drive a lot of kilometres, we have solar, and a smart charger. So far all the charging I've done has been at home, and all of it has been using surplus solar power that would have otherwise been exported to the grid. It's summer right now so I've had plenty of solar surplus to do that, but I'm hopeful that for most of the year most of our motoring will be powered by our own solar.
