In contrast to #BaldursGate3, the hype around #Starfield seems overly artificial and bought. Based on my #Skyrim and limited #Fallout3 experiences, I will pass on #Starfield. #bethesda's games don't convince me narratively or as a sandbox. #Skyrim has something interchangeable. It's a pity that neither #Cyberpunk2077 nor #Starfield seem to reach their inspirations #Cyberpunk2020 or #Traveller. I'll check out #BG3, otherwise I'll probably wait for #MassEffect4 or even a new #DeusEx.

benjamin,

@AetherEgo you didn't try Fallout 4 ? 😵

AetherEgo,

@benjamin Nope, I think I've seen enough #bethesda games. Maybe I'm wrong.

benjamin,

@AetherEgo for me Fallout 3 is ugly, Skyrim is borring, Fallout 4 is the best game ever. For my son too.

AetherEgo,

@benjamin Thank you, got the point. Enjoy.

@AetherEgo Fair enough. If you didn't enjoy the previous Bethesda open world games, then it's unlikely that this one will grab you.

I did enjoy them, and it looks like I will enjoy this as well.

AetherEgo,

@juergen_hubert Enjoy!

In my experience, there"s (nearly) always an alternative view point.
If you like, please tell us more about your favorite things that the game offers. IIRC, the Ghou (?) "mission" of #Fallout3 was pretty spooky. It reminded me of #ResidentEvil stuff.
I liked this part quite a bit...

@AetherEgo Well, I am barely three hours in (and am traveling this weekend), so I can't say much yet about the game's highlights. But I will say this:

With, say, Mass Effect 1-3 the game always played in very constrained environments. Even in the Citadel, there was only so much to see and do.

So far, in #Starfield , I have visited two major cities - New Atlantis and Cydonia. They are truly massive settlements, the biggest cities Bethesda has ever done. In both cases, I was focused on the main quest.

But I was also aware that, if it struck my fancy, I could just explore a random sector of the city and see the sights and figure out what to do there - or, indeed, simply walk out of the city itself and seamlessly explore the surrounding wilderness, and look around and try to find something interesting there.

In a lot of video game RPGs, there is plenty of talk about finding all the quests, figuring out the "optimal path/build", maxing out your gear, and so forth. But that's pretty much an impossibility in Bethesda open world RPGs . there is always more to do out there. You can only really explore them over multiple playthroughs - and each playthrough will be different.

It's the difference between doing a vacation as a guided tour and a free-form hiking trip. And I am very much a hiking person.

AetherEgo,

@juergen_hubert Thank you, and have a great trip.
