‘United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution calling on the Security Council to reconsider Palestinian membership to the UN passed on Friday.’

Reminder that this resolution does not make Palestine a UN member.

That requires a Security Council recommendation, which the United States vetoed.

This General Assembly vote determines that Palestine is qualified for UN membership, and gives Palestine more procedural righ

@bobjmsn Notable that Spain and Portugal voted yes, rather than abstaining. All the other votes were as expected tbh.

@fkamiah17 @bobjmsn looks like Spain, Ireland a few other EU nations will formally recognise the State of Palestine on May 21.

@Lassielmr @bobjmsn Yes, I'd seen reports about Spain and Ireland, but I didn't know others were joining them. That's excellent.
