HOW did I not know about Memoriam, the Bolt Thrower singer's new thing? They have 3 albums (edit: there are 3 on Bandcamp, they have 5 full lengths total), and all of them are 🔥
@jake4480 As always, it's a matter of taste, but you're comparing apples (death metal) with pears (groove metal). Both bands are gods in their respective genres. 🤷🏼♂️
@trendskater true. I just hear SO MUCH similarity haha- from the riffs to the singing style. And I find it totally wild that they formed the exact same year 🤯
And yeah, it's personal taste, but the only Prong album I can really even come close to listening to all the way is Rude Awakening. There's good songs all over the place though
@jake4480 For me „To The End“ is all killer no filler (one of my AOTY21) and I very much like the last record, earlier Memoriam albums don't have that much class for me. And Prong, Dude I love that band since my youth ... Holy shit, on each of the last albums there's an abundance of these wonderfully dry, sometimes wonderfully juicy riffs from Tommy Victor, who I never get tired of seeing live ...
@trendskater wow that's gotta be rad. Never seen Prong live! I do love how Tommy is such a Butthole Surfers fan haha. I think maybe it's Tommy's lyrics sometimes? The riffs are killer for sure. Need to hear these newest 2 Memoriam albums 🤣

@jake4480@umrk i love discoveries like that, it's what keeps me always diving down those rabbit holes. I like looking at the band lineups in Metal Archives for example and seeing what other bands people are in and following the threads to see where I end up.
@DomSathanas haha so true- rarely you find something that's this true to the original, probably because they did it right, in memoriam to the BT drummer, and wow what albums. Still listening to them right now hahaha
@jake4480 Bolt Thrower and Memoriam are from near where I grew up, along with Napalm Death (and Scorn/Godflesh etc) and ofc Black Sabbath & Judas Priest a little earlier plus Anaal Nakrath a little later. I think there must be something about the concrete hellscape that is Birmingham / Coventry that inspires great metal.

@HailsandAles I just listened to their first three albums all the way through without skipping a track. Unheard of. Unprecedented. It's BT level of good.
@HailsandAles I just love Karl's voice and lyrics haha. And the riffs are catchy and diverse, not something you see a lot of, and when you do, it stands OUT
