return to dreamland deluxe had such great co-op potential before the developers decided that every action a player does outside of puff puff, suck suck, and smack smack pauses the game for a brief moment.

obtaining a new ability pauses the game for about 1.5 seconds while Kirby does their ability dance, walking into another player automatically does a kiss-health-share thing that pauses the game, flying near another player's head lands you on them which is essentially another pause.

@buru5 I also found this odd. I love Kirby games, I think I've literally played em all now - but yeah, this is a bummer. The Wii one is much smoother.

and you can't walk through other players seamlessly; if you walk into another Kirby, you slow down for a bit while you "push through" them; this is crazy disruptive for a side-scrolling platformer as one could imagine.

i #love Kirby games but this co-op is "not it" (as they say) and nothing has topped #snes Kirby Super Star thus far and that's not just boomer-talking-points that's facts. #k

@buru5 Super Star is pretty great. I also love the Game Boy/DS ones.
