TimKStanton, Just got back from my first #backpacking trip of the year and it did not disappoint! Set up base camp partway up a mountain next to a #stream, then summited the mountain the next day. Returned to camp for the night before heading back home. With the rainy conditions, people stayed away-- I didn't encounter a single person in two of the three days-- had the summit to myself! Photo of my hammock, suspended between two trees in the forest. This is near a stream (not shown). A brown tarp is suspended directly above the hammock to provide shelter from rain. Only the end of the hammock can be seen since the tarp blocks the view.
Photo of wide river in green forest. At the horizon, a distant mountain peak is seen. That peak is where I hiked to. Large tan boulders are on each side of the river. I followed this river for several miles before hiking up a tributary stream. East Branch Pemigewasset River.
Photo of narrow ice-covered trail in green forest. The forest is mostly free of snow and ice. However what remains is the ice covering on this section of trail. The ice is formed from the snow being packed down from many hikers which causes it to turn into ice. This icy section was close to the summit. At lower elevations, the trail was completely free of snow and ice. Bondcliff trail.
