A developer who used to work for Rockstar North has shared a blog including fascinating development snippets about the development of GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, as well as general Renderware development.

As someone who is a developer who secretly wanted to be a game developer for years, I can't tell you how fascinating this stuff is to read: https://insiderockstarnorth.blogspot.com/

Alas, all it has done for me is confirm that video game development is a lot of hard work with a flood of good luck.

I remember watching a Remedy video about their recent Alan Wake 2 video where a developer shared the fact that the video game looks awful and unplayable for about 90% of the video game development, and it's only about the last 10% where it really picks up and comes together and the devs go "yeah, this works".

I get that as a software dev, but only slightly.

@ahigginscassidy *sigh^ what a shame. It was really good, I just wished it was more technical to be honest.
