@purplepadma it is so powerful, in fact, that some people manage their schizophrenia with it, their ADHD, treatment resistant depression, anxiety disorders, the list goes on.
While I can't speak specifically about being bipolar, I wholeheartedly encourage you to try.
And of course, don't change your meds without your doctor's approval (maybe you don't need to hear it, but I need to say it).

@fo oh no, I’m not going to mess with my meds at all. It took over five years of horrible trial and error to find this much functionality

@purplepadma there's a book called "Brain Energy" by Christopher Palmer, MD. He explains why it is a really good idea to use keto to manage our mental health.
There's also https://www.metabolicmind.org/, including a podcast, that goes deep in the subject.

Basically you loose nothing for trying. At least a month, more if you can. It is an adaptation, but so much worth it. Try and see how you feel, your energy levels, your mental health, etc. That kept me going!

I don't know about keto, but I want to suggest looking into glutamate foods. A member of my family with bipolar started removing them from her diet with great success. I started doing the same for depression, also with great relief.

@msbw I have a friend who feels she stabilised her schizophrenia through eating keto. My bipolar isn’t hugely bad at the moment but I could be better and I don’t want to make any medication changes

@purplepadma they say a grains diet is good because it has lots of vitamin B that helps. Ask your nutritionist what they think?
