@MaybeMyMonkeys The Swedish funding model does exactly what it was designed to do: document stuff that gets in the way of land development. It was never intended to fund research.
@MaybeMyMonkeys No, the point I was trying to get across was that there are almost no opportunities to dig where scientific curiosity would dictate. Swedish archaeologists aren't underpaid. But nor are they allowed to choose their sites.
