Polonius? Every child’s favorite side-kick? The fusty old man who assists Hamlets brother in trying to seize control of the crown of Denmark in Shakespeare’s Hamlet that kids love to hate? The self same Polonius who is often quoted in playgrounds across the world, “Brevity is the soul of wit”, as the kids love to say!
Why, as every youngster will tell you, his name comes from “Polish” as a way of satirizing Goslicius, the famous author of The Counsellor, and fan boy of the Polish king Zigmunt II August - so for him to be turned into famed Polish sausage is quite the wheeze and must entertain children across the globe!
Damn inflation! Back in my day, a nickel could buy a hamburger, two cents would get you a pack of gum, and a penny would get you a great boner! Hell, you could buy a whole book of boners for thirty-five cents!
