%100 agree, acting like threads gained 100 million new users is a bit disingenuous. I don't think it's enough to get them in trouble but it is frustrating that they and all the news outlets are spinning it this way. Because you don't need a new account to use threads the actual number of new users is likely very low. This is really more like they released a new app for Instagram and a bunch of people downloaded it, but saying "100 million of our 2 billion Instagram users downloaded our new app" is much less impressive than "our new platform already has 100 million new users"
This is reminding me a lot of when they separated messages from Facebook and made it into a separate app and then acted like they had a ton of people using their "new" messaging service

Seems to be sort of working for me. The home page still loads but no comments load. I only open the app occasionally though. I've been mostly using Kbin now especially since I've been able to beta test Artemis

Judging by the comments it looks like all the extreme emoji haters are the toxic people who refuse to leave Reddit. I love that for the most part the people that left Reddit and are active in Kbin/Lemmy aren't the super toxic ones that frequented Reddit, it's really a breath of fresh air
Yeah I lurked for a long time on Reddit since one of my first posts on there got downvoted into oblivion by said toxic users, so I was afraid to post or comment for a long time. Here is definitely a lot more comfortable
It always annoyed me how the ads were formatted to look like posts, always felt like they were trying to trick people into clicking on it (which honestly that probably is the intent). Feel the same way with ads on Twitter. It's one thing to show ads and another to format them to try and trick users into clicking on them

The devs at lemmy said that the issue with pinned posts on kbin not federating over is a Kbin issue, so I went ahead and submitted a feature request on Kbins codeberg. I have no idea how easy this will be to implement...
Semi update? So I was just looking and the directory is now showing on lemmy.blahaj.zone but not on lemmy.world (Not sure about other instances) so not sure what happened there maybe something changed in one of the lemmy updates? Be sure to let me know if the directory suddenly pops up in your instance!
I have gone ahead and made a Kbin equivalent of the r/nervysquervies sub. This was a very wholesome sub all about animals with neurological conditions being adorable. There is also an educational aspect to it and helping people understand and learn more about these conditions....
@pollodiabolo - this user is a karma whore of epic proportions and they have made a shit load (10-15+) accounts on kbin that boost and upvote each other while sometimes mass downvoting others that have posts trending towards the top - all to farm karma....
What's dumb is reputation doesn't even do anything on Kbin right now other than make you go "haha I have higher number than you" so reputation farming is a total waste of time. Personally I hope it stays that way as it will deter the farmers, I can see some of the benefits of the karma system in Reddit but it's just too prone to manipulation to be actually useful in any way.

I want to get away from audible to save money and for privacy. I would like to keep buying audiobooks if possible and host them on my server to stream to my android phone....

Seemed like emojis in posts / comments would get downvoted to oblivion on Reddit. I don’t see the same thing on Kbin (or other instances / services).
