It's still early access and is a little rough around the edges, but very playable and fun. Plus the devs are very responsive to feedback via their discord and have been making really good updates over the last year.
In a calamity that rivals the eruption of Pompeii, a Magic: The Gathering artist poured their heart and soul into a gorgeous creation, only for Wizards of the Coast to assign said art to an underwhelming, rehashed Overrun that nobody cares about.
Same for me. I feel like the reason kbin in particular feels so much like coming back to a long lost home is because it appeals to the old guard of reddit, people with 10+ year accounts who really just wanted an aggregated collection of forums for niche interests. Reddit kept getting shittier as that format got diluted and they tried to push it towards being mainstream social media.
I also had really terrible nausea with it. During the session it was fine, but then coming down afterwards I would be too queasy to do anything for at least a few hours. The NP I was seeing had some anti-nausea meds, but it didn't help much. It was getting progressively worse the more times I went, so I eventually stopped.
The positive mental effects were definitely as advertised though! I had crippling PTSD and it felt comparable to a paralyzed person suddenly standing up and walking away from their wheelchair.
Personally I find the artificial sweeteners are more addictive than regular sugar because they're so much sweeter. Plus if I'm going to have a cookie, I'd rather it be homemade rather than some processed crap.
So its basically some version of a class action lawsuit then? Would be nice if something like that actually happened after all those broken promises...
