Where to report bugs and layout errors? Is there a specific magazine or some separate page?

Mugox,
Mugox,

Probably the magazine has to be federated first - and so it has to be searched from the instance. I'll provide example using magazine AskKbin and assuming you're using browser version of Lemmy. The local adress for magazine is https://kbin.social/m/AskKbin
Go to your Lemmy and press search button. Search for the magazine using the local adress of the magazine (https://kbin.social/m/AskKbin). Once searched, it should start federating and you can subscribe to it. You should be able to easily subscribe to the magazine as well - as it is going to appear as community in search results. Similiarly you would initialte federation with communities from other instances of lemmy, if they aren't federated yet

Mugox,

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work right at the moment. I still see posts from country specific instance i blocked that way (threads sorted by hot)

  • Mugox,

On Mastodon there are levels of moderation for other instances and admins can set certain instances in such a way, that posts from that domain only appear to users who subscribe to said domain. On Kbin the user can block entire domain. I'm not suggesting you should ditch lemmy (it has post filtering based on post language which I miss on Kbin), but rather - maybe some sort of similar functionality should be proposed as feature request on lemmy repo. Unfortunately, that won't resolve the problem fast. Moderating tools are still a bit lacking, as often mentioned on the topic of beehaw defederating from many instances.

    Mugox,

communities in lemmy are magazines on kbin. On the sidebar (default to the right) you can find magazine info and buttons to subscribe to it or block it. The original post came from lemmy, so there might be confusion as to the naming of the things.

If you wanted to block entire domain in kbin, that's possible too, but I don't know easy way to navigate to the domain page. If you enter the adress manually you can do it. So for example if you wanted to block lemmynsfw.com, you would navigate to page https://kbin.social/d/lemmynsfw.com and block it with the button in the sidebar. Be warned though - if you visit the page you might see the content you wanted to block, so it's probably NSFW. Also, from what I've seen - microblog posts from blocked domain still may appear, but if you don't use microblog view this should be enough

    Hello Fediverse!

This is my first post. I have a question regarding some functions that would be equivalent to those found on reddit.

What does the following message mean:

The magazine from the federated server may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance.

When will this be complete? Do I need a separate account for Lemmy to be able to post on there?
If not when am I going to be able to use 1 account/ my kbin account to post on lemmy as well? Is this an incomplete feature for now?

Also I wanted to post in the "RedditMigration" "subreddit". Is my post here or is it somewhere else?

Probably stupid questions by I appreciate any help!

    Mugox,

@PeanutsBeside Some magazines (KBin equivalents to subs on reddit, called "communities" on Lemmy) are synced through activity pub in this federated system. So the resource you browse is not actually on KBin, but it might be somewhere else - for example some lemmy instance like lemmy world. Those resources are not synced since creation, but rather from the moment it was first looked up here. Also not everything is synced if nobody is subscribed to said federated community. If you would like to see the content on original instance, you can open the thread here on kbin, and under the post there are options - look for one called Copy Url To Fediverse, then open the link in new tab in your browser - you'll see where the post originate from. It's just a nature of federated communities. I'm not sure if all the old posts will be synced - likely not - but you should be able to see new posts

…I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a user pic/avatar. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

    Mugox,

@Suedeltica If you're on desktop go to Settings (top right corner where it displays your name -> settings), then pick profile tab and you should see the form to edit your profile, add avatar and stuff

Spam and porn are flooding kbin already

There is a substantial amount of spam and NSFW posts on the All page coming through already. Most NSFW posts aren't being tagged as such and are coming right through. I am not sure how this can be weathered but we need something in place fairly soon, I feel like we are days away from rivers of bad stuff, especially via some of...

    Mugox,

The NSFW blur is sometimes not applied correctly. For example if you have turned on displaying Avatars (or Magazine icons) then those elements are blurred instead of the post preview itself - at least that's my experience on Vivaldi browser. Styling might be interpreted differently on other browsers. And sometimes it takes a second to apply the style (I think after page reload) so if it's high up there on the list one might still see NSFW content unblured.

    Mugox,

You can visit domain page, as you would magazine page, and there is a button to subscribe to it or block it. Here is the link to domain page of lemmynsfw.com, but be warned - you'll see the post from that instance and some of them might not be properly tagged, so consider it NSFW despite your settings https://kbin.social/d/lemmynsfw.com

That should block entire instance (and i think the magazines/communities you are subscried to are exempted from this block, so you still see those)

    Mugox,

That's probably just a typo in tittle, but it's Bolt

    Mugox,

It's all good, definitely happened to me many times ^^
