@etherdiver After 20 years of that, we moved to a town of 100k in Oregon and I could NOT believe the DMV experience here. The workers were nice and went out of their way to help. "Oh, you're missing a form? Here is a copy, just fill it out here now, no problem!" And if I showed up in the morning just before they opened, when they opened I could get helped quickly without an appointment. :brain4:

Song Fight, the 24 year old online songwriting contest I help run, will be posting its 1000th song title on March 14th! Anybody who wants to will then have 10 days to write and record a brand new song for that title and send it in to be listened to and voted on by the public. We'd love to have a big turnout, and all are welcome! What quantity/frequency/ method of delivery is most likely to get you to listen to music shared by your friends? Albums feel like a lot and are hard to share on social media. EPs feel like asking a lot less but are also hard to share. It's a lot easier to share a single song, especially if you have a video for it. But making videos is a ton of work. And how many EPs/singles could a friend release and promote how often before it gets annoying? And is genre variety on an album/by an artist ok?

@frigginglorious I guess it's not going to be useful for that, sorry, haha. I posted something similar on Facebook and did get some replies there. They were from other middle-aged white guy musicians like me, though. I was hoping to hear from people less like me to get some different perspectives. The replies there were almost all in favor of releasing albums for whatever that's worth.

My wife & I just finished participating in this year's "Nur Ein" songwriting tournament. We made a song every weekend for 8 weeks! We made it to the finals but our friend & worthy competitor Grumpy Mike wound up being the champion. Congrats Mike! Here's a poppy dance tune about cherishing your far flung besties. @mc_frontalot This just had.a side effect of reminding me that, after 20 years as a renter in Berkeley/Oakland, these last few years in OR I haven't had to think about street sweeping. #blessed
