I’ve been playing their games on Android for a while. My favorites are the Stranger Things Match game and Spiritfarer. They’ve got several others but I have not played them all.

Edit:oh they have added more recently, trying Queens Gambit Chess now.

primalanimist,

I started on lemmy.world because it was the most popular server at the time and I didn’t really understand how the fediverse worked. I spent the first month sort of just learning to stop trying to think like I was on reddit. The federation feels to me like pirate TV/ ham radio, people broadcasting their visions and worldviews while rebroadcasting other stations/nodes. Each instance, has it’s own “feel”. I see the entire instance I’m on as a greater solarpunk community, which is filled with smaller, related communities of people all sharing their own interests.

This is a memory of how the Internet was first envisioned by many people, before the corporate takeover. I am interested in FOSS, I am interested in “piracy”, I am interested in any exchange of knowledge that helps us work together, spread skills, and empower communities, both virtual and on the ground.

But all that aside, lemmy.world is just too unreliable for it to be my entrypoint into the fediverse. Which is why I looked around and found a place that feels more in line with my own sense of hopefulness for the future.

primalanimist,

I could go to the local ATM and buy Bitcoin anonymously right now So you walk around the city with your face covered, only buy stuff with cash, and never ride in your personally owned vehicle or the vehicle of a friend?

The ATM has a transaction time and your bitcoin transaction record. There are enough cameras in the cities near ATMs (for this very reason) that you can be tracked if the government found you as interesting as you think you might be.

primalanimist,

That’s awesome. For snack nuts, I mostly eat roasted almonds and walnuts. But I also mix the walnuts in with berries and some vanilla whey protein and make shakes, too.

primalanimist,

I would say “most” of the food Americans eat is bad for them. 42% of Americans are obese, 70% are overweight. This is a direct result of 1. Diet, and 2. Sedentary lifestyle where we don’t move enough.

Standard American Diet (SAD):
  • High consumption of processed foods: The SAD includes a significant amount of pre-packaged and highly processed foods that often contain artificial additives, preservatives, and unhealthy trans fats.
  • High sugar intake: Sugary beverages, snacks, and desserts are commonly consumed, contributing to unstable blood sugar levels and potential health issues.
  • Refined carbohydrates: Refined grains like white flour are prevalent in the SAD, lacking the fiber and nutrients found in whole grains.
  • Unhealthy fats: The diet often includes excessive amounts of saturated and trans fats from fried foods, fast food, and heavily processed snacks.
  • Low nutrient density: The SAD tends to lack essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants due to its reliance on highly processed foods.
  • Limited fruits and vegetables: Despite the importance of these foods for health, the SAD often falls short in providing an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables.
primalanimist,

I’ve been using Pixelfed for a few months now and it’s super refreshing right now. Lots of interesting content without constant “influencers” promoting stuff or people trying to sell you things.

primalanimist,

When I first visited the site on my android, it installed a Pixelfed app for me, just like it did for kbin. This might be something to do with me using the Chrome browser though? I can’t say, I’m not super tech. But I’ve been using that just like an app.

primalanimist,

The term was coined in a blog from 2008 called From Steampunk to Solarpunk.

But the manifesto wasn’t written til 2019.

primalanimist,

I have been moving 2 communities from lemmy.world (which is down most of the time I am on for some reason) to this server. I’ve been trying to break it up a little. My apologies. Generally I make less than 5 posts a day, and only in my two communities.

primalanimist,

Same reason I am here. I had two small communities for my interests there, but it was down so often that I decided to move here AND move my communities. This place seems a lot more stable. That’s really the downside of huge servers on lemmy IMO. If communities centralize on one server, whenever that one server is down, so are the communities for everyone.

I would totally run my own server but I’m not tech enough. I have spare hardware, and I have a 1GB fiber connection, but I am not a network security expert, so I am afraid my home IP address would be targeted and disrupt my house Internet in general. Even if I don’t allow others to create account or communities on my server, I still feel like it’s a risk for me because I am not skilled enough to deal with threats.

primalanimist,

Yes. Both were only a few months old and I was the only one posting in them anyway, so I just started going back through all the links and posting them here. I’m sure there will be tools for automating it down the road, without it spamming the local feeds of the server it’s moving to, but right now I know of no such application or feature.
