This is such a bad bad API compat breakage:

It's used all over the place in userspace. In systemd we use it:

  1. to detect if a block device has partition scanning off or on
  2. In our udev test suite, to validate devices are in order
  3. udev rules use it for some feature checks (in older versions of systemd).

And it's even a frickin documented userspace API:

Then I had a private tour of the computing center and the Antiproton Accelerator 🔬

Sometimes I think about Earth-1217, where every CSV file has two header rows: column names and units (which imply data type). At first glance that world is indistinguishable from ours, but after wandering around for a while, you realize that Earth-1217's programmers are noticeably happier than ours.

@gvwilson and there are t1 customers in retail who send you a csv file with their own products for a pilot project and it doesn't have headers at all. We talk about 100-200 columns and 1000 rows. 🫣

We are the only family with the surname Eischmann in the country and for generations we wondered how it came to be and where it came from. Today I got the missing piece from the registry office. In the 18th century, our surname was Eismann. Then it was different variations: Eisman, Aishmon, Eišmann and then finally my great-great-grandfather had the surname Eischmann on his birth record. Our surname was probably invented by Chaplain Josef Pacner in 1865. 🙂

@sesivany I have a similar story from my hometown. There was a local family called "Misík". Which for whoever wrote the birth certificate sounded as "non-correct" form (maybe derived from myslit) and since then there was a new family called "Mysíkovi".

(And in the family of my wife, there's, because of a similar error, "Ivanka" instead of "Ivana")

@jancibulka @protonmail tohle se řeší u mobilního Linuxu, protože centralizace notifikací je zásadní (jedno místo, kde bude probíhat http komunikace šetří data i baterku). Ovšem někdo musí vyřešit šifrování atd. Byl o tom zajímavý talk na Linux Apps summit letos v Brně.

Preparing a workshop for @openalt about some containers basics, where I would like to show podman generate systemd. After upgrading my system and podman, that the command is deprecated 🤦️

Systemd has own format, which is podman compatible called quadlet.

The format is actually pretty nice. Looking forward to migrate to it. (And I need finally migrate to the Ansible playbook for deployment 🫠️)
